Michael’s Story

Falling into the wrong crowd at a young age led Michael down the path to addiction. Starting with light drug use and then moving onto heavier substances, he found himself wandering the streets of Prince George more than once, mentally unstable and on drug-induced benders.

After losing his job, his home and ending up in jail, Michael hit rock bottom. When he was given the opportunity to get into recovery, he jumped right in.

With minimal family involvement and no one else in his life to support him, he entered the RAN Mission OASIS Residential Addiction Treatment Services and has been here for almost a year.

"The program helped me develop insights into myself. I’ve had time to clear my head and to figure out some aspirations for my life", says Michael.

It hasn’t been an easy journey, but Michael is determined and driven and is on his way to leaving addiction and its chains behind forever!

Michael has some solid goals in mind as he moves forward in his recovery. He is balancing his time between working part time at a local restaurant, going to college online, and working through the Genesis Recovery program at RAN Mission. Life is bright for Michael and he is thankful for what has brought him here.
